It is hard to believe that this is the end of the wonderful journey. Or wait, shall I say that this is the beginning of a new journey of film appreciation and learning to see the world of movies from a critical lens. In this last lap of the beautiful journey, I would talk one of my favorite movies ‘The Lord of the Rings’ (Trilogy). I chose this movie because I believe that it encompasses all of the elements which we have touched upon in the class. When it comes to telling a story visually then I guess very few movies can give proper competition to ‘The Lord of the Rings’. From many aspects LOTR revises the genre of fantasy-adventure films by juxtaposing traditional and modern ideas. When it comes to sound mixing and visual editing, there is truly no comparison whatsoever. Again, if we critically examine from the innovation’s perspective then LOTR movies really stand out by the sheer magnitude of elements used (Mathijs, 2008).
